Have you been to the new Pier 58 yet? I visited last Sunday with the Urban Sketchers Seattle Group. It was hot, 86 degrees! But that didn’t stop anyone from having some fun sketching.
The jellyfish playground was a big hit. Dozens of kids jockeyed for a turn to climb inside. So much energy! Parents waved and shouted from the ground, pointing their kids in the right direction and hoping they’d emerge from the metal slide in one piece.
Our “sketchbook throwdown” ritual took place under one of the few shady spots on the pier. We spread our sketchbooks across a cluster of plastic chairs, turning the day’s drawings into a beautiful pop-up art installation.
