Drawn to graphite

What’s your favorite pencil lead grade? 3B is pretty perfect for me. That is what I used yesterday evening during my “Drawn to graphite” art talk and demo at Graphite Arts Center in Edmonds, Washington.

It was an honor to kick off this year’s series of talks at this wonderful artists’ hub that some of you know from attending Sketcher Fest over the past few summers.

Make sure to check their website and see their calendar of events. The next free art talk, Love and Attraction in Renaissance Art, with @uwmuseology faculty member Dr. Lane Eagles is scheduled for Feb. 10.

And if you are interested in pencil sketching, I put together a small zine with some of the sketches I shared during my talk. You can order a copy here.

P.S. The reference for my demo was a beautiful bridge landscape by Turner.
