Angelenos came to the Tower Theater in the late 1920s to watch silent films and the first ever "talking pictures." In 2021, Apple's CEO Tim Cook inaugurated the space as a retail location — the most lavish Apple store I've ever visited. Learn more about this beautiful landmark in Los Angeles Broadway Theater District as I demonstrate sketching a view of its Baroque-revival exterior and iconic tower.

Frank Gehry’s Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao blew me away when I first saw it many years ago. The Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, his hometown, is just as spectacular. Where did Gehry get his inspiration for such iconic buildings? And how did he pull off such an unconventional design? Join me to sketch and learn more about a building that revolutionized modern architecture.

What's an Urban Sketching Tour?
I launched my first urban sketching tours in the greater Seattle area a few years ago. They combine everything I like about urban sketching: learning about local culture, drawing on the spot and sharing the experience with others.

Each two-hour tour is limited to 10 participants and includes:

- Presentation about the locale
- Demo of useful sketching tips and techniques
- Group sketching exercise — bring your own drawing tools!
In September, I'll be in Berlin and Barcelona (more on that in a future message.)
