Hoping for a colorful mountain scene during this morning’s trail run with Ben and Ahmed, I decided to carry my iPad in my backpack. Unfortunately, the rain and clouds didn’t cooperate but my running buddies introduced me to a cool historic landmark on Squak Mountain: The fireplace remnants of an old cabin once owned by prominent Seattle civic figure Stimson Bullitt. The Bullitt Fireplace sure merited a sketch, and the scene became a bit more interesting when a couple of hikers showed up with their dogs and started taking pictures. Our stop was brief, but I drew and observed long enough to complete the sketch back at home from memory.
